The Apollo Youth Theatre has a prestigious reputation in delivering 'wonderful, joyous and ingenious' pieces of original theatre from family pantomimes to hard-hitting applied-theatre pieces. We give young people the opportunity to learn an array of stage craft techniques in a fun and welcoming environment with a passionate team of creative professionals who work in fields such as illustration, animation, film, music, technology and of course theatre. Our productions are written and produced solely by our team and the youth theatre members themselves, which we feel is important as participants gain greater creative control and the ability to learn more than just acting, which makes us unique from other similar organisations on the island.

Our Saturday morning workshops give young people between the ages of 7 - 23 an opportunity to learn stage craft techniques through devising mime, improvisation, script work and other theatre skills, and to take part in public performances, giving an insight to how a theatre works.

Some may dream of a career in theatre, but for others it’s a hobby which gives them the chance to meet friends, put on productions and find a unique way of expressing themselves. It is a relaxed environment suitable for anyone who wishes to come along, whether they have had any experience of performance or not.  All that is required is a willingness to try, to want to achieve and to learn new skills. The sessions are ideal for confidence-building and learning to work as an effective team member.  When not working on productions, the two-hour sessions consist of games and exercises that are useful in developing skills required for performance and public speaking. There are sessions on movement and character development, and we look at the different approaches of various practitioners.

Operated by Pink Cow Theatre, AYT produces high quality shows which challenge and engage the cast and which give them the opportunity to be involved with the whole production process. From writing to devising to choreographing to music production, participants engage in every aspect of our shows!
